For a truly unforgettable wedding day what better place to get married than the former home of a romantic poet? The inimitable Lord Byron. Newstead Abbey is a beautiful historic house set in a spectacular landscape of formal gardens and provides a most desirable location for any bride's big day.
Founded as a monastic house in the late twelfth century, the Byron family purchased the Newstead estate from Henry VIII in 1540. Sir John Byron and his successors kept much of the monastic structure and layout so that, to this day, the house retains its exquisite medieval charm and character that proved such an inspiration for Lord Byron's famous poetry.
Your civil ceremony will take place in The Orangery, an enchanting and immensely popular venue with couples from all over the world. This beautiful room has a magnificent crystal chandelier that hangs from an ornately plastered ceiling. However, what really makes this space so special are the grand windows with their panoramic views over the Abbey's grounds.
After the ceremony your photographs will be taken in our formal gardens. Featuring waterfalls, lakes and immaculately manicured floral displays, they are among the most beautiful in Nottinghamshire. What more perfect backdrop could there be for your special day?
